If you guessed “people who legally carry a firearm” you’d be right. The Crime Prevention Research Center has a new report out that says, “It is impossible to think of any other group in the U.S. that is anywhere near as law-abiding.”
The report compares the number of crimes to the number of police officers on duty. People who hold a concealed carry permit commit about 103 crimes per hundred thousand officers. That includes both felonies and misdemeanors. For the U.S. population as a whole, the number jumps from 103 per hundred thousand to 3,813 per hundred thousand.
Keep in mind that the crime rate is lower today in the U.S. than it’s been in 30 years and for people who carry guns there crime rate is 1/37 of the national crime rate.
The number of people who have a concealed carry permit have increased by 215% from 2007 to 2015. Over 14,000,000 Americans hold a permit. That’s about 6% of the U.S. population. In reality, the number of people who carry a concealed weapon is somewhat higher because 11 states – including my home state – do not require a concealed carry permit to carry a firearm.
Here is the stark reality of crime in the U.S. From 2005-2007 the 6% of the population who carry a handgun committed a total of 703 crimes. 113 were firearm violations.
A look at the FBI crime statistics shows that black males 15-35, a comparably sized group at 6% of the population, commit 50% of murders and over 40% of violent crime in the nation. Last week in Chicago 99 people were shot and 15 died in 7 days. Thank goodness Chicago is a gun free zone.
Radical, gun grabbing liberals like the people who run the Brady Center or Everytown for Gun Safety have refused to comment on this study. Color me shocked.
