Nils Olav was promoted to the rank of Brigadier in the King’s Guard by the King of Norway. Brigadier Olav was quite famous in his own right before the promotion. Here he is passing in review at the Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo.
That’s right, Brigadier Olav is a penguin. He started out in the King’s Guard as a mascot in 1972. He was promoted to corporal in 1982, Sgt. in 1987, Regimental Sgt. Major in 1993, Col.-in-Chief in 2005, Knight in 2008, and now Brigadier.
The question is, does this penguin have aspirations for higher office? Could he be plotting and overthrow of the current King?
Time will tell.
